The waterfront does much of the work here. Across the weddings we've documented, our portraits have used the beach and pier, the rocks and shoreline, a lighthouse, and the interior staircase — many of them at sunset over the lake. What I love most about Lakeview is how much of the wedding day can happen with Lake Ontario right beside you. You can step outside for beach portraits, work along the path, use the iron staircase, and then come back inside without turning the day into a travel schedule.

The sunsets here are some of the strongest I’ve photographed in the Hamilton and Stoney Creek area. I also like the way the downstairs cocktail area opens onto the patio — guests get that easy indoor-outdoor flow while we still have several good directions for family and couple photographs.

The staff have always stood out to me too. I’ve worked with them several times over the last few years and found them friendly, organized and easy to work with. And yes, I still remember one beach ceremony where I moved in behind the officiant for the kiss photo and a wave soaked my shoe — I squeaked for the next two hours.
