Maria & Mike

A note from Jean

Maria and Mike’s wedding at Casa Loma gave us some beautiful photographs, but it is also one I remember because the lighting was unusually difficult. The sunlight coming into the space during the bridal-party photographs created a real editing challenge afterward, and I ended up spending about four extra hours correcting those images. That experience stayed with me because Casa Loma can be spectacular visually, but it is not always simple to photograph. The stonework, windows, gardens and interior rooms give you so many possibilities, while the changing natural light can force you to think carefully about exposure and direction. For Maria and Mike, we were able to use the venue for the ceremony, portraits and reception, so the entire wedding had a very consistent Casa Loma look from beginning to end. The result was a collection with a lot of architectural character and strong atmosphere. Even though the lighting created extra work afterward, the photographs were worth the effort and remain a good example of how rewarding a challenging venue can be when everything comes together.
