Stefana and Greek Orthodox wedding crowning
The wedding crowns, their exchange and planning coverage of the complete sequence.
What it is
Stefana are the crowns used in a Greek Orthodox wedding, commonly connected by a ribbon. The crowning and customary exchanges by the wedding sponsor are distinct parts of the service.
Where it fits in your day
The priest places the crowns, and the sponsor exchanges them three times in the customary Greek Orthodox sequence. The crowns remain part of the service before being removed near its conclusion.
Planning photography and video
Confirm the sponsor’s role and camera positions with the priest. We plan for the placement, exchanges, the connecting ribbon and your expressions. A single crown photograph cannot show all of those actions.
The details that matter to your family
If the crowns are heirlooms or will become a keepsake in your home, tell us about their history. We can plan a detail photograph without interrupting the service or handling ceremonial items without permission.
Questions for your planning conversation
Who is your koumbaro or koumbara? Are the crowns new or inherited? Where may the photo and video crew stand?
