Filipino wedding veil and cord traditions
Planning coverage of the couple and the sponsors who take part in these chosen rituals.
What it is
Some Filipino Catholic or Christian weddings include a ceremonial veil placed across the couple and a cord, often arranged in a figure-eight shape. These customs are not included in every Filipino wedding.
Where it fits in your day
Sponsors may have separate roles in placing the veil and cord. Confirm who performs each action and when it occurs with your officiant, rather than assuming a standard entrance or sequence.
Planning photography and video
Share the sponsor list with names and roles. We plan to photograph the people placing the items, the couple’s expressions and the completed arrangement. Tell us where sponsors will wait so their movement can be anticipated.
The details that matter to your family
Allow portrait time with the sponsors who are important to your family. If the veil or cord has been used by relatives before, tell us about that connection and whether you want a detail photograph before the service.
Questions for your planning conversation
Who are the veil and cord sponsors? How will they enter or approach? Are the items family keepsakes?
